Skype's new Video Messaging goes live on all devices, except Windows Phone--coming later?

Skype video conversation is a fantastic way to keep in touch with friends, family and business concern contacts, but upwards until at present, it was simply as skilful every bit who was in front of their device at any given moment. All of that has changed with Skype's new Video Messaging feature, which is essentially video mail.

It allows you to tape a video, up to three minutes long, and send it to whatever contact, whether they are online or offline. And then, once your contact signs in, they will see your bulletin waiting for them and can view and respond at their ain leisure. Fantastic, right?

Well, yeah, as long every bit y'all are on anything other than Windows Phone. Y'all see, Skype's latest service is bachelor for Skype for Windows desktop, Skype for Windows eight, Skype for Mac, Skype for iPhone, Skype for iPad, Skype for Android and allow's throw in Skype for BlackBerry. With Skype being purchased by Microsoft over two years ago, information technology begs the question, "Huh?"

Sure, despite Skype at present being a subsidiary of Microsoft, it is notwithstanding its own company. However, Microsoft has signaled that Skype will exist at the center of communications for all of their devices and services, and yet, they have neglected to include Skype's latest characteristic in their own operating organisation whose focus is that of communicating. Meanwhile, they have opted to bring Video Messaging to all of Windows Telephone's competitors.

There's non fifty-fifty a mention in the announcement that Skype for Windows Phone will be getting this feature.  In fact, they go so far as to say:

Video messaging is now available to all Skype users. You tin ship and receive as many video messages every bit you want – completely gratuitous of charge. Video messages tin can exist received and viewed on any platform or device running Skype.

Umm, Skype...Aren't y'all forgetting somebody?

We reached out to Microsoft and the Skype team for a comment on the lack of Windows Telephone back up and received the following response:

"Windows Telephone users can already receive and view Video Messages. We volition inform you lot if we add send adequacy at a later date."

So at that place you lot go folks: it'due south non at that place even so and may come in the future, but information technology doesn't audio like it'southward happening anytime soon.  Begin ranting in comments in 3, 2, 1...
